Jessica

creative director / planner

Jessica is a detailed planner with over a decade of experience in the events world including weddings, corporate events and social gatherings. After addressing all your concerns, she will go over all the things you never even considered to ensure a smooth execution of any event, regardless of guest count. Combining logistical expertise and a refined design eye, Jessica plans thoughtfully with nothing too overdone. Jessica is organized, dedicated, intuitive, personable, creative, adaptable and just a little bossy—in essence, everything you want in an event planner. She credits her resourcefulness and her ability to connect with almost anyone to her travels and broad work experience.

After graduating from university, Jessica spent two years backpacking across Asia & the US before returning to Toronto and getting her WPIC certification, studying event management at George Brown and studying floral design. After traveling to Paris for the first time, she fell in love with everything French; the architecture, the history & the opulence.. even the company name!

I WAS BRAINSTORMING NAMES FOR MY NEW COMPANY, I WAS TALKING TO MY HUSBAND (BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME) AND WHEN WE HUNG UP, HE SAID WHAT HE ALWAYS DOES.. "BISOUS."

As her full-time career since 2013, she has background in sales, administration, marketing, customer experience and teaching.

For weddings, Jessica is able to combine ideas, designs, and expectations so that the first day of the rest of your lives together is exactly what you both imagined. Always taking on a hands-on approach with meticulous planning skills to help your dream day materialize while staying on track.

Fun facts:

Jessica married her husband in the middle of a busy wedding season in the summer of 2017 and even had a wedding client the very next day!

During the pandemic, Jessica gave birth to two busy identical twin boys. Being a mom of busy twins, multi-tasking is just expected!

Jess loves music but especially R&B. She loves to dance but to remain professional, she won’t dance at your event but trust me, she wants to! Watch for head bopping and singing along post 7pm.

She will touch everything at your wedding… at least twice! This means even the bread basket and salt and pepper shakers so they don’t block the table number!

Jess refuses to wear heels… ever! Even as a shorty, it’s a NO.

Her dog, Misu (RIP), acted as flower girl in her intimate wedding to her husband, Joseph.

Loves travel (I mean who doesn’t say this?)! Some of her travel highlights - 3 months all around France in 2024, 2 years backpacking around Asia, Iceland, Mexico almost every year because Mexican food is just too good, solo trip to Sevilla in Spain, 7 trips back to her ancestrial country of Viet Nam.

Q+A

  • Beautiful events and weddings with intention and an emphasis on detail and guest experience. With 15 years in the business, we have worked on 100s of different cultures, clientele, venues, colour palettes and needs.

Events and weddings are our full-time gig and with over a decade of experience, we know how to handle all types of events and situations. We work with you from conception, design, logistics, finalization to full execution (and fixing anything that pops up on the day!). We have a long list of reputable suppliers and vendors we work with to ensure a smooth event!

We strive to keep timelines running, seamless execution, problem-solving so that means more time for you to be present. We try to do no more than 2 events a weekend to ensure quality.

Weddings: By checking out the Bisous Events portfolio on Instagram is the best and most up-to-date way to see our general style, especially since it's alway evolving. We love getting inspired by the venue, our clients and trends. Overall, here is how we would describe our favourite wedding aesthetic:

    • thoughtful and customized to our client

    • romantic

    • organic

    • elegant

    • non-traditional

    • multicultural / interracial

    • intimate

    • modern

    • urban

    • eco-conscious - want to explore how to plan an event while reducing waste? We’d love to assist in bringing beauty and nature together

We are open to clients from all backgrounds, religions, cultures and LBGT-friendly!

  • It means "kisses" in French and pronounced "bee-zoo". It's a common expression in France (where Jessica's husband is originally from) for loved ones, mostly family and lovers, that can replace "bye"!

  • We have had clients from Nunavut, California, Florida , New York City, Vancouver, and Ireland.

For weddings, we specialize in working with couples with multicultural needs (how to incorporate multiple cultures/cuisine/traditions) and trust me, we’ve seen all the combinations and we love it!

Regardless of the venue, we bring our skills, experience, rentals and vendors to any space and do our thing! Every year, new venues are renovating or popping up and we love a challenge. Here are just some of the venues we love working with: The Great Hall, Conservatory of Music, AGO, Broadview Hotel, Kurtz Orchards, Globe and Mail Centre.

  • For wedding planning, the sooner the better! We want to ensure you get the date, venue and vendors you want so knowing earlier is best. Ideally, we’d like to know around a year before when possible but have planned entire weddings in 5 weeks!

You will not be charged more if you book a planning package 5 months before your wedding or 1 year so might as well get as much help as you can early on. The earlier vendors you book tend to be the most complicated and expensive so it's wise to use our experience and contacts to your advantage. However, sometimes couples just need to learn how tricky wedding planning can be on their own before reaching out.

For social events (birthdays, anniversaries, milestones, baby shower, etc.) or corporate, we’d prefer at least 2 months notice especially between May-October but 4-6 months is plenty.

  • Destination weddings definitely take a lot more time based on the logistics so please inquire early. But yes, we can travel and love to!

Lately, I've had a lot more bookings for out-of-town or out-of-country clients so if you'd love to get married in Toronto but don't live here, let us help! Or if you live in Toronto and want to take your loved ones on an adventure.

  • Absolutely! I'm here to help as an extension of your style and preferences. I will make sure it all flows and is cohesive but at the end of the day, it's your special day. I will always assist in bringing what's important into the event as a reflection of my client.

    I'm more a supervisor, you're the boss.

  • Within a month of working with Bisous Events, clients can upgrade to full planning from partial planning.

All packages have the flexibility of upgrading, just not downgrading once work has begun within the first month. Feel free to start smaller to lock in your date and upgrade once the planning gets rolling. More likely than not, you'll wish you booked the upgraded package!

  • Yes, we have a selection of limited, high-quality and beautiful decor rentals for our clients only! We bring them ready to go on the day (stickers removed, cleaned, organized, wrapped and based on your aesthetic) and bring them back with us on the day. No minimum spend, no pressure to rent anything at all, no delivery fee or set-up fee and best of all, you don’t need to bring anything with you on the day or at the end of the night! Items are quite often less than other rental companies and are always updated based on event trends. Inquire with us on what you need and we can make recommendations.

Here are some of our rentals: cake stand, floor easel, frames, table numbers, votive holders, taper candle holders, pillar hurricanes, trays, cake knife/server, money box, faux candles, runners, stationery holders. bud vases and more.

  • Coordination packages with other companies often begin 2-4 weeks prior the wedding but with Bisous Events, we prefer to start 6 weeks prior. This way, we ensure you are not stressed having to fill us in on everything so close to the wedding date while finishing up at work, hosting guests and finalizing those little details. We do not do “day-of coordination” as we need to review many details in order to take over what you’ve planned so far and ensure we have ALL details to make sure your day is flawless.

Unfortunately, to be fair to our planning clients, referrals and recommendations are for our planning clients. Along with the recommendations, we also follow-up, attend meetings, takes notes, review prices and portfolios... this is no easy task but we want to ensure the recommendations are a great fit and fulfill their role for your wedding.

If you do need an extra guidance along the way, perhaps inquire if we are able to bump up your package to partial planning!

    1. Decide on your package. Electronic sign, it will auto-send it back to Bisous Events where we counter-sign.

    2. Send in your deposit noted on the contract (between 40-50% of the full package amount) by e-transfer to bonjour@bisousevents.com

    3. email to set up your first meeting! This will be a thorough one running 1.5 hours!

    4. If you booked planning, we will set up a site visit and subsequent meetings.

    5. All packages, 1 month before your event, we will finalize your details, guest count, floor plan and rental items.

    6. Final invoice will be due 10 days prior to the event.

    7. You and all your vendors will get your final itinerary 1 week before along with the rest of your family/friends you supplied emails

    8. relax for the last week (spa and massage svp!) and let us know of any final detail changes (people unable to make their flight, sick and can’t attend, etc.)

    9. wake up on the event day and breathe a sigh of relief you don’t need to make sure any of the set-up or little details on the day - just enjoy and be present!
